The Darlington Apple Festival is an annual event held the first Saturday in October, rain or shine, in the quaint village of Darlington, Maryland in the north-east corner of Harford County.
The festival includes an outdoor stage with all day entertainment, hundreds of country crafters exhibiting and selling their work, a fall harvest of mums, pumpkins, and of course, Apples ! There is also a children's area with games and kids can even stuff their own scarecrows. There are also hayrides for the whole family all day long. And Food !!! All the usual things plus pit beef, barbecue, apple fritters and of course, Maryland Crab Soup !
No Dogs or other pets are allowed on the festival site with the exception of handicapped assistance dogs, dogs used by law enforcement and dogs displayed at the festival site under the restriction and control of qualified handlers.
The Darlington Apple Festival is a huge undertaking for such a small community. It is only possible through the efforts of all the people who generously donate their time and talents to make it such an enjoyable event and a great support for the charitable organizations in and around the community. The support of local and area businesses and individuals make it possible.
We always need people who are interested in helping us in every capacity. The committee meets monthly throughout the year (except November and December) and there are a number of experienced people to help new volunteers 'learn the ropes'. We have committee members who are in their first year and a lady who has been with us for 17 years. We welcome new members. We also need people who can give us some help a day or two before the big event.
Public Parking is $5.00 for all sites. Handicapped Parking is available at the School which borders the site. Shuttle buses transport you from the three northern sites.
