Mahavir Jayanti is the celebrated on the birthday of Lord Mahavira.
The Feastival's founder of the modern Jain religion and the last in the galaxy of 24 Teerthankaras (Jain Prophets).
Lord Mahavira was born on the 13th day of the rising moon of Chaitra, in either 599 BC or 615 BC. Commemorating his birthday on this day, Mahavir was the most revered religious leader in this century and was perceived as a reformer who vehemently opposed the ritualism and false beliefs.
On the Lord Mahavira'r Jayanthi, the Birth anniversary, many members of the Jain community make offerings of milk, rice, fruit, incense, lamps and water to the tirthankar. Some sections of the community even participate in a grand procession.
