Mahatma Gandhi University, also known as GM of the University, was established on 2 October 1983 Kottayam.

University inscribe 1,50,000 students on average each year to 210 postgraduate courses, postgraduate and M. Phil, Ph.D. programs through various departments and faculties.

The Mahatma Gandhi University , with B+ accreditation of National Assessment and Accreditation Council, was established on 2nd October 1983, as the fifth University in the southern most State of Kerala, India.
