ESPN's 2009 NFL power rankings are already out.
The same rankings are starts from Steelers, Patriots and Giants.
ESPN makes note for week 1 of the Seahawks which ended last season at 28, ranked 22 in May, and now stand at 15. For Week 1, ESPN puts the Power Rankings as the following :
1. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0): Yeah, so they barely beat the Titans and they lost star Troy Polamalu. Still, Big Ben looked solid, they're the defending champs and worthy of respect.
2. New York Giants (1-0): A nice solid all-around win over the Redskins. Manning looks like he can adjust to life without Plaxico Burress. They have to be considered favorites to win the NFC East.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (1-0): Sure, McNabb is hurt, but they're used to that. Other than that, the Eagles had a solid all-around win. They The Eagles offense, defense and special teams all scored all scored touchdowns over a decent Carolina team.
4. New England Patriots (1-0): Tom Brady worked his Brady Magic again. Still, the fact that they couldn't dominate the Bills could be a sign of trouble. Thank God Boston sports fans aren't worry warts.
5. Indianapolis Colts (1-0): Yeah, the Colts are a good team, have been for years. But a shaky victory over Jacksonville shows that they may not among the league's true elite. Still, the defensive line looked great as did the Payton Manning-Reggie Wayne combo.
6. Tennessee Titans (0-1): Tennessee's defense looked solid without the presence of Albert Haynesworth.
7. San Diego Chargers (1-0): The Chargers are notoriously slow starters, and they didn't exactly dominate the hapless Raiders. They also looked bad defending against the run. Chargers fans can take comfort in Philip Rivers' fourth quarter performance: 10 for 12, 144 yards, TD.
8. Baltimore Ravens (1-0): So much for Joe Flacco being a caretaker quarterback a la Trent Dilfer. Flacco looked great, throwing for 300 yards and three touchdowns. Don't expect this to last forever, but at least they know they have options other than giving the ball to Ray Rice.
9. Minnesota Vikings (1-0): Brett Favre made his debut with the Vikes and hopefully he figured out a blueprint for the rest of the season: give the ball to Adrian Peterson and try not to screw things up.
10. Green Bay Packers (1-0): Aaron Rodgers looked like a leader, especially on his TD pass to Grant Jennings.
11. New Orleans Saints (1-0): Hard to make much of the Saints win because they played the Lions. Still, throwing for six touchdowns is nothing to complain about.
12. Dallas Cowboys (1-0): Tony Romo seems to be loving life without Terrell Owens and Jessica Simpson.
13. Atlanta Falcons (1-0): A lot of pundits were saying that the Falcons were set to get knocked down a peg this season. It hasn't happened yet. Matt Ryan looked great and has a perfect target like Tony Gonzalez. The Falcons defense also looked good, forcing the Dolphins into four turnovers.
14. Seattle Seahawks (1-0): The Seahawks look they may be able to win the NFL West after dismantling the Rams. Matt Hasselbeck completed 70 percent and Julius Jones ran for 117 yards. The Seahawks have the makings of a great comeback story.
15. Arizona Cardinals (0-1): Kurt Warner still moved the ball throwing for 288 yards and Tim Hightower looked good. Ultimatley, the Cards couldn't handle Shaun Hill and the 49ers. Not a good sign.
16. Washington Redskins (0-1): They played hard in their loss to the Giants. Their defense didn't back down and got in everyone's face. The Redskins offense? Not so much.
17. San Francisco 49ers (1-0): The 49ers defense is young, hungry and scary. When was the last time anyone could say that?
18. New York Jets (1-0): Mark Sanchez was decent, showing composure and the ability to throw downfield. Rex Ryan's defense also looked great.
19. Chicago Bears (0-1): What a letdown. Two weeks ago, Bears fans were seriously talking about a Super Bowl. Now Brian Urlacher is done for the year and Jay Cutler hasn't seem to have found a rhythm with his receivers.
20. Denver Broncos (1-0): Is there anything more ridiculous than watching Kyle Orton run down the field with his finger in the air and celebrating after the miracle catch by Brandon Stokley. Yeah Kyle, you meant to do that.
21. Buffalo Bills (0-1): If you're an optimist, you could say the Bills held their own against the Patriots on the road. Bills fans aren't optimists.
22. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1): The Jags look better than their 5-11 record last season. Their defense looked good as did their offensive line, which allowed MoJo to run free.
23. Miami Dolphins (0-1): At least they can still run the ball. That's about it.
24. Carolina Panthers (0-1): Oh, to be Jake Delhomme. After a playoff flameout last season, he looks like a broken man.
25. Houston Texans (0-1): Did the Texans start to believe their own hype? It sure looked like it after their brutal opening season loss.
26. Oakland Raiders (0-1): Could it be that the Raiders don't suck? Darren McFadden looked great as did the Raiders' young wideouts. They might win a few games if Al Davis doesn't screw things up.
27. Cincinnati Bengals (0-1): Watching HBO's Hard Knocks will make you think the Bengals are going to tear up the NFL. Watching an actual NFL game may give you a different impression.
28. Kansas City Chiefs (0-1): The Chiefs scared the crap out of the Ravens and may have given themselves a major confidence boost. Scoring 24 points against the Ravens with your backup QB is not a bad way to start the season.
29. Cleveland Browns (0-1): Well, at least they had a lead at halftime.
30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1): Their quarterback situation is a mess as is their secondary.
31. St. Louis Rams (0-1): Sure, everyone says the Lions are the worst team in the league, but they have some serious competition now that the Rams are here. They were shutout by the Seahawks—they even missed a missed 37-yard field goal attempt .
32. Detroit Lions (0-1): The Lions didn't completely embarrass themselves. Still, they haven't won a game in a loooong time. Until they do, they're still considered the league's worst team.
