A true "clean sheet" design, Lexus LFA was created by a small team of committed and dedicated engineers, the result is to expand the frontiers of materials, technology and engineering at all stages to produce a car like no other has led to the Lexus logo. Designed with an advanced carbon fiber technology, rear-drive Lexus LFA is powered by a measure, high-revving 552bhp 4.8-liter aspirated V10 engine, mated to a rear-mounted six-speed automatic transmission sequence, which gives over 200 km / h performance.
In words, Chief Engineer, Haruhiko Tanahashi: "The ALF is a thoroughbred Lexus supercar, a machine designed to achieve a goal - to deliver a supreme driving experience. Over the last decade, we have taken all restrictions on the exercise of this goal, and I believe we have created the most driver orientated car we could. "
Carbon Fiber CONSTRUCTION
Keep the car's weight to an absolute minimum, one of the fundamental elements in the development of disadvantaged areas, Lexus and this led to the decision to change the use of aluminum to build the car to advanced carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the chassis and body. In addition, Lexus decided CFRP structure to be built at home rather than by a third party provider. Thus drew on the legacy of Toyota Motor Corporation in fabrics for pushing the boundaries of their technical capacity, developing new weave of carbon fiber and a laser system to monitor the integrity of the material.
